There’s always people who know better than you how you should relax. Here’s all the knowledge I’ve been blessed with since I came here: there’s no point in going online during my vacation, I have to sleep a lot, I need to explore the area and not just sit stay at my hotel. Meanwhile, I spend hours online, wake up at 5:45 a.m., go to bed at 10 p.m. and love procrastinating.
I’m amazed how many people cannot understand that I’m making my own decisions here. If I spend a few days mostly sitting on my terrace with my notebook, that’s because this is my favorite way to relax.
I decided not to go see the lions and the other bad animals. The prices are kind of insane. The hotel wants 700 euros per night. The guys down on the beach want 600 dollars for two nights. For 700 euros, I could book a room in an Egyptian five star hotel for a week. I decided to wait a year, go for a week-long safari and then spend another week in Zanzibar.
But I couldn’t resist going to see the coral reef. And so, yesterday morning I arrived in the harbor.
‘Where are we heading?’
‘Pilli pipa’
‘Awesome name.’

I got a bit terrified that we’ll be using the boat in the top right picture, but it was just a taxi.

The views were decent, but they’re no match for Thailand. The cruise was very rocky. For the first time in my life, I was afraid of getting seasick.

The photographs of the fish are as bland as the fish themselves. The local reefs are greyish and ugly, with swarms of colorless fish swimming around. Disappointing. The Egyptian reefs are still the best one I’ve seen. The Phuket ones were great, too.
‘Don’t swim beyond the red thing’ the captain warned me.
‘Alright, I will.’

And I stumbled upon the most vicious species amongst sea creatures. The Kenyan shark. It’s as dangerous as the infamous Hungarian lion.

Three of them above me, about a dozen below me. I tried chasing them, scaring them, threatening them but they just weren’t up for a fight.

Only the sharks made the trip worthwhile. Around noon, we reached the island where we were supposed to be fed.
But I’ll tell you about it next time. You can guess what they served as looking at the second thing from the right.
